On a stone in Maryport Congregational churchyard:
"Esther, wife of John Moncrieff, mariner of Maryport, died 20th June 184 9, aged 25.
Mary Jane, daughter - died 27th August 1849 aged 5 months.
John Moncrieff, mariner, who was drowned at Dublin in the River Liffy, 14 th August, 1851, aged 29.
Also Sarah, their daughter died Sept. 1857, aged 10 years."
