"William Moncrief of Brigham, accidentally killed in Megramfitz Collie ry on February 13th, 1877, aged 51.
Margaret, his wife, died February 20, 1902, aged 75.
William their son, died February 14, 1877, aged 24."

The inquest on William Moncrieff, killed in an accident at Megramfitz Coll iery, Greysouthen.
William Moncrieff, aged 51, aged 51. Identified by his son, Thomas. Willi am went down the pit at 5.30 and was crushed and killed by a fall of frees tone. He left a wife and nine children. His eldest son, William, a stonema son, died from illness on the following day. They were buried together. T he funeral was attended by a procession of Good Templars, to which organis ation they both belonged.

A verdict of accidental death wa s recorded upon William Moncrieff, min er of Brigham, killed in an accident at Melgramfitz colliery on February 1 3. Fees were granted to the widow.(note - this entailed the jury donati ng their attendance fees to the widow).
